Our Action in Response to Typhoon Haiyan
Thanks to the action of some of our key supporters, 200 wheelchairs have been shipped from the UCP Wheels warehouse and are on their way to the Philippines, where they will benefit survivors of Typhoon Haiyan. So far, our supporters have stunned us with the amount of care and concern for the survivors of this unprecedented tragedy, and we cannot thank them enough.
Right now, our top priority is to immediately get mobility devices into the country and to the people who need them. We’re working closely with our partners to make sure that our wheelchairs are reaching those most in need and that our efforts aren’t being duplicated.
Long term, we’ll be working to support our partners with resources and training, so they can scale up the work they do to meet the increased needs and numbers of Filipinos with disabilities.
If you would like to support our our work in the Philippines, you may make a one-time or recurring donation by clicking here, and using Designation Code “Philippines” at the bottom of the form.
Thank you again, for stepping forward to help those in crisis. For the individuals we will serve, it is a kindness that will not soon be forgotten.
